Archer is White Arrow's own transportation management system, built in-house and
running every shipment end to end since 2010. Every truck, container and reefer
unit reports into it, and the portal, mobile apps and API read the same live data
its dispatchers use.

### Environment

White Arrow has been an EPA SmartWay partner since 2011. It has won the
SmartWay Excellence Award 5 times (2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020), was nominated in
2013 and 2014, and was a semi-finalist in 2015 and 2019. Its equipment is
C.A.R.B. compliant.

- **Idling control** — All of our tractors are equipped with idling control devices. We implemented incentive programs rewarding drivers with the least amount of idling.
- **Intermodal** — Increasing the use of intermodal has led to cutting our costs in fuel and has reduced our fuel consumption.
- **Freight consolidation** — We've reduced the number of trailers on the move by optimizing our freight consolidation. We actively measure and reward consolidation optimization efforts.

## History

- **1982** — Everything starts with a dream and a vision in Romania. In his home country, Chris is enjoying his own “transportation” while envisioning big about the future.
- **1986** — Chris and his family move to the USA. After moving to the United States in July of 1986, Chris's father, Constantin, purchases the first White Arrow truck. It is a used blue Freightliner with a white stripe painted on the side resembling an arrow — the White Arrow name is born.
- **1990** — Two newer Freightliner trucks are added to the fleet. Paving the way for further growth, focusing on coast to coast truckload operations.
- **1992** — White Arrow expands into the LTL market. The fleet grows to 4 trucks.
- **2000** — The first terminal opens in Southern California. White Arrow's growth continues, expanding into LTL consolidation operations. The fleet evolves to 10 trucks.
- **2006** — White Arrow opens a second terminal in NJ. This new opening supports freight operations between California and the Northeast.
- **2008** — Third terminal in Stockton, CA. At which point, the fleet grows to 20 trucks and approximately 50 trailers.
- **2009** — The fleet grows to 40 trucks and nearly 100 trailers. White Arrow enters into the temperature controlled market.
- **2012** — New terminals in Portland, OR; Mechanicsburg, PA and Chicago, IL. White Arrow undergoes a reorganization to support its rapid growth. The fleet grows to approximately 100 trucks and 300 trailers with almost 115 employees supporting its operations.
- **2013** — EPA's SmartWay Excellence Award. For the first time, White Arrow is recognized by SmartWay for its leadership in the environmental efforts within the transportation industry. It receives the Excellence Award for calendar 2012.
- **2014 – 2015** — Joins the fastest growing private companies in LA and in the US. Two years in a row, White Arrow achieves the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in the United States, and the Los Angeles Business Journal Top 100 fast growing private companies in Los Angeles.
- **2016** — A new terminal opens in Springfield, MA — and Archer goes live. This offers improved coverage in New England. We release a cutting-edge Transportation Management System developed internally — the name is Archer. This new TMS is connected to all of our trucks and is accessible to our customers via our website. Our solution is capable of real-time tracking and temperature monitoring. It gives our customers full visibility throughout the lifecycle of the load with notifications and alerts.
